The dynamic

The Executive builds engines; the Finisher supplies destinations. What draws this pair is completion of motive: the 9 sees, at last, power that could actually do something about the suffering it carries everywhere; the 8 sees a reason larger than the scoreboard, and is moved by it more than it admits. The engine is leverage married to meaning — money learning purpose, compassion learning scale; this is the couple that funds the shelter and then runs it properly. The built-in test is the audit. Under stress the 9 reads the 8's ambition as coldness, and the 8 reads the 9's giving as leakage — one guards what was built, the other gives it away, and each starts suspecting the other's motives at the worst possible moment.
