Most of a numerology chart is fixed at birth. The Personal Year is the part that moves. It cycles 1 through 9, year after year, and names the season you are standing in: a planting year, a building year, a harvest year, a clearing year. Same garden, different month.
It will not tell you what happens. It tells you what kind of effort the year rewards — which is more useful, because that part is yours.
The calculation
Add your birth day, birth month, and the current calendar year, each reduced first: day reduced, month reduced, year digit-summed and reduced. Reduce the total to a single digit. Born 14 March, in 2026: day 14 → 5, month 3, year 2026 → 2 + 0 + 2 + 6 = 10 → 1. Sum: 5 + 3 + 1 = 9 — a Personal Year 9.
One convention worth knowing: the Personal Year runs the plain 1–9 cycle, so master numbers are not preserved here — an 11 along the way is read as 2. The cycle describes seasons, and seasons do not skip.
Many readers run the Personal Year from birthday to birthday rather than January to January. If a year's theme seems late to arrive, it often lands with your birthday.
Years 1–3: plant, root, flower
Year 1 — planting. The cycle restarts. Beginnings get unusual traction: ventures, relationships, identities. The classic mistake is spending the year finishing old business that a Year 9 already tried to take from you.
Year 2 — rooting. After the push, the pause. Growth goes underground: alliances form, details matter, patience pays. Slow is not stuck; this is the year that decides whether Year 1's seeds hold.
Year 3 — flowering. Expression, visibility, social bloom. What you planted starts to show, and so do you. The risk is scatter — a 3 year happily spends itself on twelve bright fragments.
Years 4–6: build, shake, settle
Year 4 — building. Work, structure, foundations. The least glamorous year and the one the next five quietly depend on. Health, money and systems set here tend to hold; ones skipped here tend to invoice later.
Year 5 — the shake. Change arrives — wanted or not: moves, pivots, exits, openings. Fighting a 5 year for stability is expensive; steering it is the art. Choose your changes early, before they choose you.
Year 6 — settling. Home, relationships, repair, responsibility. People marry, buy homes, reconcile, and care for parents in 6 years. Its demand is real: someone will need you. Its reward is roots.
Years 7–9: deepen, harvest, release
Year 7 — deepening. An inward year: study, reflection, faith, solitude that feeds. Outer progress may idle and that is not failure — the 7 year refines the operator, not the operation.
Year 8 — harvest. Power and results return. What you built since the last 1 year pays out — in both directions: strong foundations compound, cut corners invoice. Career moves, negotiations and money decisions carry extra weight now.
Year 9 — release. The clearing year. Projects, roles and relationships that are genuinely finished ask to be closed with gratitude. What you refuse to release in a 9 year, the next 1 year has to drag. Travel light into the new cycle.
Working with the year instead of against it
None of this is fate. A 5 year does not force a move, and you can absolutely launch a company in a 7 year — uphill. The cycle is leverage: the same effort lands differently depending on the season, so the wise allocation changes year to year. Push in 1 and 8. Root in 2 and 6. Make in 3. Build in 4. Steer in 5. Study in 7. Release in 9.
